Denver, Colorado: Places to See!

My husband I travelled to Denver, Colorado for a work trip. We were able to explore the city quite a bit, which was so fun! We found some cute places, yummy food and hit a lot of the popular spots. It was a clean city and easy to get around. I really enjoyed our time there.

Little Man Ice Cream: My husband said this is the best ice cream he has had. I thought it was good too. The atmosphere is so cute and fun. They have outdoor seating and just a walk-up window to a building that looks like a large milk can. There are lights and some artwork on the walls around the area. It is right next to the Linger restaurant which we have heard use to be a mortuary turned into a restaurant. We opted out of that one but totally go for the ice cream!

Larimer Square: I was just happy walking this street and getting a picture. We didn’t try any of the restaurants or go into any of the stores. It all looked pretty fancy but it was fun walking through the streets. The lights and flags hung up above just made it have a cool vibe. There were flower pots everywhere that were all in full bloom making it look so pretty.

Rocket Fizz: This is right across the street from where Larimer square starts and on the same street as the 16th street mall. It is an old time looking store but so neat. They had tons of glass bottled sodas, old candies, and old time signs. There was so much to see and had some super cool old style things. We found a cherry flavored ale 81 which we hadn’t seen before.

16th Street Mall: This was just a little street with some shops and mostly restaurants like the Cheesecake Factory. They do have it located right next to the clock tower which I think was the feature of this street. We weren’t too impressed with the area we walked but I'm guessing we missed some of the mall.

Capitol Building: The Capitol Building has a gold leaf roof on the dome of the building. It was quite neat to look at. They also have a step marking the 1 mile above sea level point of the city. When I went it seemed pretty quiet and low key. Not a lot of people were there. I enjoyed sitting on the steps and looking at the surrounding buildings which were just as neat to see.

Denver Central Market: The Denver Central Market is an old warehouse that they have turned into a restaurant hub. They have food, bakeries, ice cream and treats all there. I went a little early so the ice cream was closed which was what I was going for. I ended up trying some chocolate from Temper. They have a bunch of tables to sit at inside, as well as some outside the front of the building. It was very industrial and modern feeling inside. This was one of my favorite stops.

Rino District Art Murals: The alleyways and streets full of artwork are right outside of the Denver Central market building. So, two birds with one stone in that area. It was so neat to see all of the murals. I did walk a little bit around but definitely did not see all of the artwork. There is an alley way directly behind the market that I walked through, it had outdoor seating and lights strung back there. The art pieces I saw were amazing and honestly was so cool to see!

Union Station: this is a beautiful spot downtown. The Union Station is grand and very busy. I was lucky to find on street parking on my second drive by that day. They have little shops, food, coffee and ice cream shops located inside the station. They also have plenty of seating with tables and benches. Out front they have a big water fountain splash pad area with some more outdoor seating.

Daniels and Fisher Clock Tower: The clock tower was so neat to see in person. We were there while it rang the bells on the hour. It made the area so much cooler. It is walking distance from Larimer square and 16th street mall.

Confluence Park: This is an area down by the Platte river where you are able to canoe, Kayak, swim and hang out by the water. We just ran into this spot while we were walking through town. There was a lot of seating areas, walkways and a lot of access to the water. There were also some people on scooters riding alongside the river which would be so fun!

Temper Chocolates: This is located in Denver Central Market. I bought two pieces of chocolate from Temper for $7.00. My husband laughed when I handed him his piece which was little and melted from being in my purse on the hot summer day. This was just a funny experience and one we will laugh about for a long time.

Even just driving around these sites I was able to drive past the Art Museum and the Coors Stadium which were neat to drive by. Just keep your eye out and I bet you can mark a lot of things off of your list, all within a few miles of downtown.
