My husband and I had rented a little cottage in Daybreak for a little over two years. We loved it! The neighborhood is so cute and there are a lot of things to do outdoors. Here are a few things we enjoyed doing and some of our favorite treat spots all in Daybreak!
Daybreak Lake: This is a loop of sidewalks along a manmade lake. There are always people walking and running out on the trail and people fishing, kayaking and paddle boarding all out in the lake. My little brother and I tried kayaking which was pretty fun! This is a great spot for family pictures, a picnic, taking kids to the parks, relaxing on a bench or feeding the ducks. They have food trucks every Thursday night and concerts and other activities like a lantern festival throughout the year.
Oquirrh Mountain Temple: The temple is walking distance from the lake. The neighborhoods are so cute to walk around surrounding the temple as well. Our favorite place to walk is on the hill next to the temple where there is a trail. The temple grounds have benches to sit at and a cool water feature out front. I literally saw the temple everyday driving home from work, running errands in the area or even on our walks through the neighborhoods. It was really neat to be so close to the temple.
Soda Row: Soda Row is also walking distance from the lake on the south end. There are a few restaurants and businesses along Soda Row's street. They have farmers markets and concerts during the summer. There is a hair salon on the corner that I went to when we first moved there. It was super expensive but the best hair color I have gotten. This is a cute area to walk around. They have Rockwell Creamery for ice cream which is a yummy treat!
The District: We love the District. It is an area that has everything you need from grocery shopping, clothing, restaurants and even activities. The movie theater has lots of food options inside and is well maintained. Protein Foundry was one of our first stops when we first moved to Daybreak. Right before we moved away, they opened a Raising Cane's. They had a line for months and we only got some because we went at 10:00 AM! A lot of good places all in one place.
Duck Donuts: This is a cute donut shop where they make the donuts right in front of you. You get to choose your toppings and then they make them fresh. I love their vanilla frosting with a drizzle of caramel and their maple frosting with marshmallow drizzle. My husband likes their cinnamon sugar or glazed the best. My mom and sister probably have gone a million times by now and love all different combinations. All the flavors I have tried have been awesome!
Parks: Daybreak has a park on every street it seems like! They have a few different splash pads near by as well. There are skate parks and even a dog park in the neighborhood. They also have community swimming pools, tennis courts and lots of open fields. On the Island side of the neighborhood there are hammocks but you do need to be with someone who is a resident to use them.
Village Baker: I have only tried the cinnamon roll and sugar cookie from Village Baker but it is totally worth going just for the treats. They have the softest dough and the best frosting. The restaurant also has pizza and sandwiches and lots of other treats to pick from. The restaurant is super cute and they even have a drive thru.
Ivie Juice Bar: We found this place right before we moved. Bummer! It was actually really good. Ivie Juice bar has smoothies, acai bowls and freshly made juices. This was the first time I have ever had pineapple on an acai bowl and it was so good. I would definitely stop here again!
Kinland Family Farm: There is a farm right there in town where you can go pumpkin picking in the fall and then throughout the year they have a little store too. We loved the pumpkin picking there! For Christmas they have trees you can pick from too! It is located in such a good spot. We passed it a lot while we lived there.
View of the Whole Valley: Daybreak has the best view of the valley! During fireworks we would walk to the south side of the neighborhood where they have some walkways and picnic tables on the side of the hill. You can see the whole valley, even on a normal night it is beautiful to go sit and see the lights of the valley. Fireworks are awesome from their though too!
Love Lock Bridge: Okay, maybe it's not called that but there is a spot next to a bridge that has locks on the iron rod fence. It is a beautiful spot up above the Daybreak lake. The fence is made of little rocks and iron rods holding the rocks together. It definitely is an art piece and then the little locks make it look even cooler. My husband and I did this first thing when we moved there and then we went and checked on it the last week we lived there and it was still there!
