Fun Things To Do in Utah!

I have grown up in Utah and have had my fair share of fun adventures. My husband only has lived here for about six years, so I have tried to take him to all my favorite spots. He loves hiking the most but we have gone to many cities, eaten lots and have found a lot of new fun things to do in Utah. I've made a list of my top things I would do if I were visiting or even if you live in Utah!

Lagoon: Lagoon has a bunch of roller coasters and a very fun atmosphere. I have gone quite a few times since growing up here. I do not like rides but I enjoy the atmosphere at the park. They have a good amount of food options, but you are allowed to bring in your own food too. They have plenty of grass areas to sit on or picnic tables all around as well. We like to get an ice cream cone at the ice cream parlor in Pioneer Village. Laguna Beach is a fun water park inside the amusement park. They have a lazy river and a few water slides. This is a fun activity for all ages, but is only open for the summer months.

Horseback Riding: We went horseback riding in Midway, Utah for our anniversary one year. We went through Rocky Mountain Outfitters for our guided tour. We were able to ride through the mountains on our horses for an hour and a half.  It was one of our favorite things. Definitely a peaceful activity and so much fun. Midway, Utah is another one of our favorite areas. They have ice castles in the winter, a bakery called Bakery on Main and a cute little town in general.

Daybreak Lake: This is a manmade lake in the middle of a really nice neighborhood in South Jordan, Utah. You can rent kayaks, paddle boards or canoes to use on the lake. There is a sidewalk around the lake for you to walk, run or bike. There are a lot of activities throughout the year like concerts, food trucks, farmers markets and seasonal things like a pumpkin Regatta, fireworks and a lantern festival. This is a great spot for a picnic, feeding ducks, family photos, exercise or just a fun place to go for date night.

Park City Outlets: We absolutely love the Park City outlets. The drive is beautiful and the area in general is really pretty. Our favorite store is Nike which has the best deals on shoes that we have found. Unfortunately, our other two favorite stores have now closed. It is a good loop of stores so wear walking shoes or you can drive from the lower to the upper area of the shopping center. Make sure to hit "I Love Moo" for ice cream or smoothies while you're in Park City.

Hiking: We love the mountains here in Utah. Some of our favorite hikes have been Ensign Peak, Living Room Trail and Bear Canyon Suspension Bridge hike. There are lots of easy hikes as well as ones for the more experienced. Make sure to do your research and hike prepared with water and snacks. We usually go early Saturday mornings through the summer months.

Hale Center Theatre: This is such a fun place here in Utah. Hale Center Theatre just built a brand new building which is gorgeous and really fancy. My husband surprised me with tickets to "Murder on the Orient Express" which was so funny and they performed so well during it. There are shows all year long and each show is there for a couple of months. Check out their website to see what is on the calendar for the year. The tickets do sell out fast during the holiday seasons.

Great Salt Lake Salt Flats: The Salt Flats was the second place I took my husband sightseeing around Utah when we first started hanging out, and eight months later we got engaged there! The lake is on the very west side of Utah, but an easy drive to get there. The water goes on forever and it is crazy to see the white salt instead of sand all over. It makes for beautiful pictures and just a fun outing. Even just driving past it is so pretty and a good view. There isn't much to do out that way but it is a must see when you're in Utah.

Bear Lake: Bear Lake is about an hour outside of Logan, Utah. It is known for its raspberry shakes which are so yummy. We have taken a few trips just to get a shake because they really are so good. This is one of my favorite lakes. It is shallow for quite a ways out so it's good for kids to be able to be out in the water safely. We rented Ski Dos there. It was so much fun to be out on the lake going fast. Logan is just around the corner from here which is another great city to adventure in. They have some unique food options, hiking, Utah State University and just a good country vibe there.

Moab: Arches and Canyonlands are both national parks that are located near Moab. We did a trip this last year there and loved it! They have lots of hiking options and then the little town has some good food options as well. The drive was so fun from Salt Lake and then going through the parks were very neat. See my Moab blogs here: Moab Hikes or 3-Day Trip in Moab, UT

St. George: St. George has so much to do! We have rented a UTV in Sand Hollow and rode around on the sand dunes there. They also have a lake where you can rent water toys for out on the water. There is Snow Canyon where you can go on hikes. They have the Red Hills Desert Gardens and hiking around there as well. There is a cute little mall and lots of shopping areas. Tuacahn theater is an outdoor amphitheater which I've never been to but I hear does amazing performances and concerts. Lots of fun food options and over all such beautiful weather and a beautiful city. Favorite Things To Do in St. George, UT

Downtown Salt Lake City: There are some really cool things to go and see in Downtown Salt Lake City. They have an indoor/outdoor shopping mall called City Creek that is such a nice shopping center. There are lots of food options and restaurants around the area. The state capitol sits right on the hill and is gorgeous. There is a hike called Ensign Peak right behind the capitol where you can see the whole city. The Salt Lake Temple is a big part of downtown with beautiful gardens to walk through and of course the temple is pretty in and of itself.

Zion National Park: Zion National Park is another beautiful outdoor activity here in Utah. It has a lot of hikes and and it a beautiful drive. We did the Emerald pools hike when we went and drove through the park and we were in awe at the beauty of the scenery. Every park in Utah have such different features but are all so worth seeing.

Gardner Village: Gardner Village is the cutest little village here in Utah. It is boutiques with a few food options and a lot of walkways around the area. They decorate for Halloween with the cutest witches and have a lot of events there. It is a really cute place to go walk around. We like their Chocolate Wagon store where they have tons of candies, caramel apples and fudge. They also have an old toy store that brought back lots of childhood memories for us when we walked through it. We want to try their murder mystery dinner they have available there.

Capitol Theater: At the Capitol Theater in downtown Salt Lake they have lots of different shows. We have seen the Nutcracker Ballet and Aladdin Ballet show there. It is a beautiful building and anywhere you sit is a great spot. I loved that you get to dress up a little bit and get to watch such talented performers.

Utah Gymnastics Meet: We love our Utah gymnastics teams. They usually do free tickets on the upper bowl seats so we have gone a few times and have loved it. The crowd is so exciting and upbeat and the gymnasts are so talented here in Utah. I love the feel of the arena and the support the team gets. There are also yummy snacks to get as well!

Jazz Game: The Jazz games here in Utah are so upbeat and hyped. The stadium fits a lot of people, there are a lot of food options and just overall so fun to go in person to see the game. Even when we have sat in the nosebleeds it's been super fun. I bought my husband better seats for his birthday one year and that was pretty cool too.

Sundance: This is a cute little spot in Provo canyon. Sundance is known for film festivals, restaurants and hiking. We walked around the grounds in September and it was beautiful. They have a few stores, restaurants and a fire pit to sit by. We rode the ski lift to the top where Bear Claw restaurant is and got nachos there with a beautiful view. There are a few hikes out that way and a zip line course. Very peaceful and beautiful area.

Boondocks: Boondocks is a family fun center that have arcade games, miniature golf, go-cart's and laser tag. My husband and I went there for part of our honeymoon. They even have pretty good food in the restaurant there. It's best to go on a warm day to do the go-cart's and miniature golf outside but there's plenty to do inside as well. It is a fun place for both adults and kids.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Temples: One year when I was younger I had a goal to go to every temple here in Utah. I think I only missed a few but went to most of them. Now they have 17 temples and building quite a few more. They are beautiful buildings, even if you don't want to go inside it's worth the drive to go and see them. They all have beautiful grounds with water features and benches to sit and enjoy the view. It's neat driving around the valley where you can see multiple temples at once.
