Murray has become one of my favorite areas in Utah. We lived in Murray for about a year and had so much fun exploring, as well as hitting all our favorite spots. They have everything in the area. A Costco, a Sam's Club, restaurants, a mall and my favorite spot Fort Union which is on the outskirts of Murray that has restaurants and shopping in the area. Here are the more unique options to eat and do in Murray, but do know they have all the regular stuff too!
Wheeler Farm: This is a cute area that you can go to for events and to just walk around. They have a beautiful barn that hosts a lot of weddings. There is a park and a lot of walking areas. It’s a great place to take pictures at. They have farmers markets and animals you can go and see. They do have seasonal activities for the different times of the year like a pumpkin patch during the fall.
5 Below: This is very similar to a dollar store, but they are five dollars and under. They had a good section for makeup, face masks, and then their candy section is awesome. This was a fun store to roam around in! We even found my husband's favorite chips from Texas here called Hot Fries.
Trader Joes: I have loved every second of living five minutes away from a Trader Joes. I had to set a limit on how often I would visit because I would go every single day if I could. We have tried so many new things and have found a lot of favorites! I really enjoy shopping there for the holidays, they come out with all sorts of yummy festive treats. See my Trader Joe's Favorites blogs here: Valentine's Favorites, Fall Favorites, and Favorite Snacks
Dutch Bros: We first heard of Dutch Bros when we went on our Colorado trip, but I didn’t try it until we got home. We have one close by our Murray house and I had heard they have really good chocolate milk. I got the chocolate milk when I went and it really was good. I took my brothers there and one got a smoothie and the other one got a shake and they have asked to go again and again so it must of been good for them too! My husband has tried a few different drinks as well which he liked!
Swig: Good ol' Swig. They have quite a few locations now a days including a cute little shop right in Murray. They have the yummiest Strawberry breeze drink! There are lots of drink choices, cookies, and snacks. I tried the peanut butter and chocolate frosting cookie which wasn't anything too crazy but it was good. The sugar cookies are the popular cookies there.
Fashion Place Mall: This is one of our go-to malls, so it's fun to live so close to it now. They have a H&M, Hollister, Hot Topic, Lululemon, and all the usual stores. They have a Cheesecake Factory, Corner Bakery, Brio and a Shake Shack in the area of the mall. We also love that there is a Marshall’s and a Ross right across the street. You can shop like crazy here and be able to hit every store you want! During Christmas they have a really cool tree out front and the hustle and bustle there is so fun.
Twisted Sugar: We tried a few cookies from Twisted Sugar and their frozen hot chocolate. It is a very cute little cookie and drink shop. I loved the peanut butter Nutella, sugar, and the banana cream pie cookies. They have the staple cookies that don't change and then only a couple that are flavors of the month ones. They have lots of drink options. The frozen hot chocolate wasn’t too sweet and had a cool taste of the hot chocolate, but wasn’t grainy like I'd thought it would be.
Shake Shack: It's exciting to get new restaurants in Utah, especially ones we have tried in other states and love. My husband had tried this and was excited to take me to the one in Utah when they opened. Now there are a few locations. The one in Murray is really cute. They are quick at getting your order out. Their shakes are so yummy. I get the chocolate and Greg gets the strawberry. The burgers are good and I love the bread they use for the buns. As long as their fries are crispy they are good too!
Italian Village: Italian Village is a very popular, older restaurant in Murray. They have pizza's, pizza benders, pastas, and super yummy garlic toast. We always get their Pizza Benders which are like a calzone. You can create your own pizzas and benders. My whole family loves it there. The best is getting a side of alfredo sauce for the benders which is a a yummy combo.
Jordan Commons Movie Theater: This movie theater isn't quite in Murray, but it is only a twelve minute drive. This is my favorite movie theater. The area where you buy the tickets and concessions is decorated like a little town. There are brick buildings and windows and "street" lights. It is such a cute feel there. They have lots of food options but right now it looks like they aren't opened, so double check before you go. The concessions and Cold Stone have been open when we have gone. They just remodeled the theaters with all luxury seating, recliners for everyone! It is always a good movie experience at this location!
Moochie's: We love Moochie’s! They have the best cheesesteaks. I love mine to have the peppers, onions and mushrooms and then my husband likes his plain with just cheese. They do have signature sauces that add a little spice to your sandwich as well if you like that. We like to get a large sandwich and then warm them up for lunch the next day. Their french fries and sweet potato fries are the best in town. They are crunchy and have super good flavor.
Capriotti's: This is another sandwich shop that we love. There is a location right across the street from Fashion place mall off of State street. They have my favorite sandwich called the Capistrami which is pastrami with coleslaw, Russian dressing, and cheese. The Bobby and the cheesesteak are both good too!
The Spa Lounge: My husband got a membership to the Spa Lounge for his birthday while we lived in Murray. He was sweet and let me use his membership to go get a facial. It was the most relaxing facial I have had. They are very professional there, the location is clean, comfy, and relaxing. It is cheaper to have a membership, but reasonably priced on it's own as well.
Laser Quest: This is a super fun laser tag game place. We took my siblings out for a date here and had so much fun. They have a good amount of area to run around while in the game and they make it really interactive when seeing your scores. Its affordable as well. It is located in a good spot where there are lots of food options around so you can have food and an activity all by each other.
See's Candies: See's Candies are our most favorite chocolates to get here in Utah. We go every year for Christmas and then a few times the rest of the year. I think we have tried almost every piece of candy they offer by this point. We have lots of favorites. They give you a free sample every time you go in. You can create your own box or buy a box already done for you. The stores are so cute and they are always the sweetest people.
Murray City Park: Murray Park is such a fun part right off of State Street. There are lots of different activities you can do. There are a few parks with swings, musical instruments, slides, workout areas, walk ways, a pool, and a river. There is plenty of open grass areas, benches. and picnic tables. We were impressed with the park and how clean and spacious it was. The rec center is right there as well as an ice skating rink building.Handel's Ice Cream: We first tried Handles in St. George so we were excited to see there is a location close to our home in Murray. We got an ice cream cake from there which was super good! We love their waffle cones with the strawberry or the peanut butter chocolate ice cream. They have tons of options. This location is pretty big and was quick.
Waffle Love: We love Waffle Love. They have the yummiest waffles and lots of toppings. You can get something sweet or savory. I like the Biscoff spread with bananas and whipped cream. My husband always gets a waffle with strawberries, raspberries, and bananas with whipped cream. You really can't go wrong with anything from here.
Roxberry Smoothies: This use to be our spot even before we lived here in Murray. We absolutely love Roxberry smoothies. They have lots of smoothies to choose from. My favorites are the Peachy Keen, Ocean Breeze, and the Tropical Twist. My husband has tried almost the whole menu but his favorites are the LOL Lime, Pomegranate Perfection, or the Dragon Mist. The Acai bowls are all really good as well.
The Pie Pizzeria: There are a few locations of the Pie Pizzerias now but there is one off of Fort Union. They really do have the best pizzas. We like to get our own and have it for leftovers. I like the garlic sauce instead of the marinara sauce. The food comes out quick and has been yummy every time we have gone.
Down Town Murray: There is a little spot on State Street that is the historic down town of Murray. There are the old buildings that still have cute signs up today. The coolest one is the Murray sign on the theater building. It is a cute place for a picture and neat to see the history of the town still up today.
