Valentine's Day Treats!

I have loved Valentine's Day ever since I was little. I just enjoy having holidays and a day to show extra love to your spouse and family. I have had some fun memories of heart shaped breakfast foods, treats, fun dates, and just feeling loved. Here are some of my favorite Valentine's themed and vibe kind of treats.

Chocolate Covered Strawberries: I don't know how this tradition started, but I make these every year for my husband. He loves fruit so I think I just tried to make it a little cuter one year. The strawberries are back in season around February so it's a perfect treat. I just add milk chocolate and sometimes white chocolate drizzles. It is a great treat and feels very festive.

Sparkling Berry Lemonade: My husband surprised me with a new drink from Trader Joe's for Valentines day last year. It is a sparkling lemonade. I really liked the flavor. It is a perfect pink color for the holiday and just a fun drink overall. I love any of the lemonades from Trader Joe's, as well.

Cutlers Sugar Cookies: Our first time going to Cutler's was near Valentine's Day so we got to see the cute Valentines décor for the sugar cookies. They have such a great variety of cookies to choose from. The sugar cookie and the peanut butter chocolate cookies are my favorite. There are a ton of fun cookie shops in Utah that have cute decorated cookies for the holidays. I have a blog of my favorite cookies called "My favorite Cookies in Utah."

X's and O's Gummy Candies: These are just cute. If you like Swedish Fish then the red ones are for you. The other two flavors aren't as good, but I just want these for how adorable they are for the holiday. These bags are affordable and would be so fun for a charcuterie board or to put out in a candy dish.

Normal Ice Cream: One of my favorite Valentine's Day dates was going to Normal Ice Cream. It is a cute little ice cream truck at the location we went to, but they do have a storefront downtown Salt Lake. The flavors change every so often and they have really fun combinations and toppings. It is yummy and a cute atmosphere.

Donuts: Every holiday you can't forget to check out the donut shops for cute decorated donuts. I really am liking Lee's Marketplace donuts right now and they always have some fun sprinkles and colors added to their donuts. Krispy Kreme always have holiday decorated donuts. It's just fun to have the pinks, whites and red colors this time of the year.

Ice Cream Cookie: One year my husband got us an ice cream cookie from Baskin Robins. It was something we had never had and I thought it was so fun. The cookie itself was good. It was a little sweet for me, but in small servings it was good. This was a fun memory for us!

Candy Cinnamon Sugar Cookies: This is my families favorite sugar cookie frosting recipe. My grandma made these with my mom and now my mom makes them with us kids. The frosting tastes like the little Red Hot candies, but with a little more sweetness than the hotness. I have shared the recipe before that you can find here: Candy Cinnamon Sugar Cookie Recipe

Fortune Cookies: We love fortune cookies, so one year I ordered pink ones and said "I'm fortunate to have you." It was a cute way to have one of our favorite treats. There are recipes you can make your own at home or there's a bunch online you can order.

Heart Shaped Macrons: These Macarons are so festive for the holiday! They did come in late last year at Trader Joe's, so I ended up trying them after Valentine's Day, but hopefully they are in stock this year. I really enjoyed the cookie part of these. The fillings were a little bit chewy and thick which wasn't my favorite so I just ate the cookies without the middles. I am a sucker for cute things though so I would get them just because they are so cute. A lot of other stores are starting to carry similar cookies, as well.

Ice Cream Cake: My husbands favorite dessert is an ice cream cake. One year I surprised him with a cake from Dairy Queen. I laugh at the writing on it every time I look at this. It was much cuter in my head when I ordered it. The cake though was yummy. We have tried a cake from every ice cream shop in Utah it seems like. Each spot has their own unique ice cream cakes so it depends on what you are looking for. Handle's Ice Cream is probably our favorite we have had.

Chocolates: Valentine's Day is a perfect excuse to eat some chocolate. Chocolate candy is my most favorite. We like going to See's Candies for our favorites, there are a few store bought chocolate bars that we love, and just some fun experiences with chocolate stores we have had. I have a blog on all my favorite chocolate bars and candies called "Favorite Chocolates."

Gourmandise: (Utah)  I just think Gourmandise has a romantic vibe in their restaurants and the way they package up their treats are adorable. My husband and I love going there for the desserts. The Strawberry ring is the best and goes with the Valentine's Day theme of the reds and whites. They have yummy cake slices, tarts, and pastries.

Mochinuts: This is on this list because they have an adorable wall that said "I love you so Mochi" which is appropriate for the day of love! The donuts are very unique with flavors and textures. The flavors change weekly. The storefront is very fun to go to and the donuts really are good. The original glazed one is my favorite which I think they have all the time.

Cinnamon Rolls: There are all sorts of ways to make cinnamon rolls so cute for the holiday. I have taken them and made a heart on the pan, I've shaped each cinnamon roll into a heart and dying the icing pink is always fun too. I love cinnamon rolls from bakeries more than the store bought ones. Just a fun breakfast is a fun way to celebrate the holiday.
