I don't know why I love bakeries so much, but I do! Utah has some really yummy and cute bakeries around the state. We have tried quite a few and have lots more on our to try list. Here are my favorites from the ones we have tried.
Gourmandise: (Salt Lake City & Draper) I would have to say this is one of my most favorite bakeries in Utah. We have visited this bakery too many times to count and is kind of embarrassing at how much we have gone. Gourmandise is both a restaurant and a bakery. They have the treats displayed in a case at the back of the restaurant. You can just walk in and go to the counter to pick out a treat or you can sit and enjoy it at the restaurant. I have tried quite a few of their desserts and have really enjoyed each item for different reasons. My go-to is their fruit rings or the tarts. My husband has gotten the strawberry ring almost every time we have gone.
Kneaders: (Various locations) Oh man, if you need a good breakfast Kneaders is the place to go, but also for their desserts. I love the feel of the restaurant. They have home made breads, french toast and desserts. I love the fruit tarts, cake truffles and the sugar cookies. My husband loves their bread pudding and the french toast. There is also very good milk steamers which have different flavors for the seasons.
Village Baker: (Various locations) This is another restaurant and bakery type of place. They are known for pizzas and sandwiches, but also for their bakery items. My most favorite cinnamon rolls are from Village Baker. There are lots of cookies and desserts to choose from. I always go for a cinnamon roll and a sugar cookie.
Schmidt's Pastry Cottage: (South Jordan & Taylorsville) This is an oldie but a goodie here in Utah. Every wedding I went to growing up had the eclairs as the refreshments from Schmidt's. They have yummy eclairs and a mint brownie. They also have donuts, cakes, tarts, and cookies. This year for the fall they had the cutest pumpkin and ghost sugar cookies. I have liked everything I have tried from there.
The Chocolate: (West Jordan & Orem) My husband and I tried this a little while ago and really liked their desserts. I wasn't a fan of the actual bakery which is an old house made into the shop. The Orem location is the best out of the two locations. The desserts though were delicious. I got a whoopie pie and a lemon vanilla sugar cookie. The frosting was to die for. They have lots of cakes, cookies and pastries.
Ruby Snap Cookies: (Salt Lake City) Cookies are a weakness for me. These cookies are my all time favorite in Utah. The bakery is decorated so cute and is always a welcoming fun environment. The cookies are old fashioned, but so good. I love the Penelope, Amy, Maris, and Mia. Which are basically peanut butter, chocolate with caramel, and a sugar cookie. I like that when you buy a box they give you a free cookie card every time. You are able to try the cookies before buying them too.
Midway Bakery on Main: (Midway) What a fun little bakery shop in Midway, Utah. The bakery is located on main street and has such a cute vibe. We went and got cupcakes and cinnamon rolls. They have a fun set up of desserts with cookies, cakes, and tarts.
Flake Pie Co: (South Jordan) If you love pie then this is the spot for you! We tried the three pack and we should of gotten more than that. We really liked the peach pie the best. They also have little tarts filled with a filling. It is basically a Toaster Strudel just homemade. I got the Smore's flavor and really liked it. I would choose the pie's over the tarts if I had to choose.
Beaumont Bakery and Café: (Millcreek) This is the cutest bakery! My husband was even impressed. We went with my in-laws here and they loved it, too. We tried the strawberry pastry, lemon zested pastry and their donuts they are known for. We all loved the strawberry and lemon pastries the best. We will definitely be going back there.
Lehi Bakery: (Lehi, UT) This bakery is located on Lehi's main street with all the cute old buildings. The store is a bit older, but don't let that scare you away because the donuts are delicious. You do want to get there early to get the best selection. We went in the afternoon and missed the square donuts which they are known for. The donuts we did get though were so good. I tried the peanut butter and chocolate drizzled donut and my husband got the old fashioned donut. The dough is so soft and has a really good taste. We will be going back for sure!
Parsons' Bakery: (Bountiful) We went to Parson's Bakery right before they were closing so we didn't get to see everything, but they still had a good amount of options of treats. We got a couple of cookies and a cinnamon sugar pastry. The lady who helped us said their most popular cookie was called the "Parfait" and now I see why. I got one and loved every bite. Their cookies are soft and chewy and have really good flavors. I do want to go back and try their donuts and more of their treats!
Lee's Marketplace Bakery: The donuts at Lee's bakery are so good. The dough is soft and tasty. I love how many flavors they have to choose from. There are square donuts, round, and extra large donuts. The donuts are at a good price and they do have deals on certain days and in the ads. They have had some cute donuts during the holiday seasons as well. There are cookies, cakes, popcorn, breads, and so many more bakery items to choose from.
Blox Dessert Bars: My mom and I went and tried Blox Dessert Bars. The storefront was adorable with bright yellow walls. The options of bars change weekly so you can always find something you like. I loved the rice Krispy they had the week we went. I thought the other bars were good, but I would say it is too much for only two people. Invite some friends to try it with you!
Chip Cookies: Chip Cookies is another fun cookie shop in Utah. They have one cookie flavor option that rotates while the other three are there all the time. My all time favorite is the Biscoff Chip. It has the Biscoff cream throughout it with white chocolate chips. The OG which is chocolate chip is a greasier type of cookie so it's not my favorite, but a lot of people love their OG flavor.
Eva's Bakery: This is an iconic bakery for Salt Lake City. It is in downtown near the City Creek Mall. It is a cute blue building with such a cute space inside. I would suggest to go early to have the best options to pick from. We went in the afternoon and the options were pretty slim pickings. The chocolate croissant is my go-to usually and that's what I did there too. It was flaky and had a good amount of chocolate pieces. My mom and sister got the Eclairs and said they were some of the best one's they have had. My brother got the fruit tart which looked really good. They have a full food menu option as well as the bakery items. Very cute bakery!
