Donuts are always a fun go to for breakfast or a treat. Growing up my parents would go get donuts a lot on the weekends and I loved it. I have tried quite a few spots and have put together a list of my favorites here in Utah.
Rogers Bakery (Reams in Magna, UT) Rogers Bakery is a must try when you're in Magna. It is the donut shop I grew up going to. Their maple bar is so good but the original glazed, cinnamon twist and pretzels are good too! My family loves their Chocolate bars too. They are light and fluffy and just the right amount of glaze or frostings. It is a little less than $10 a dozen. The great thing about donuts in a grocery store is that you can go grab a gallon of chocolate milk to go with it!
Duck Donuts (South Jordan, UT)
Duck Donuts is such a fun donut experience. You get to order whatever toppings you want for your vanilla cake donut and then you watch them make them fresh right there. I love their white icing and the maple. I sometimes get caramel drizzle or marshmallow or powder sugar toppings added to the icing. My husband loves their cinnamon sugar toppings as well as just the glazed. They are best eaten warm but they do warm up good at home later too. This is in Daybreak but they say they will be adding more throughout Utah so keep an eye open for one closer to you.
Donut Boy (West Valley City, UT)
Donut Boy has some fun donut options. My favorite is the Apple Pie donut, but they all look so good! They have ones with fillings, whipped cream toppings, candy, and just your simple original kinds too. This is definitely a sweeter option for a donut, but worth the calories! Yum!
Darla's Donuts (West Valley City, UT)
Oh, Darla’s Donuts. They are the softest donuts I have ever had. I really liked their banana cream pie and the white frosted donut as well. The donut in the picture is a root beer flavored donut which is actually really good. My brother's school was right by there so I would take him sometimes for breakfast to grab a donut. He loved their chocolate and I’d get the maple. Any of their donuts look like they would be so good.
Rowley's Red Barn (Santaquin, UT)
These ones are seasonal, but they are so good, I have to include them in my favorite donut list. They usually come out in about September to the end of October at Rowley's Red Barn. They are apple cider donuts covered in cinnamon sugar and you can get them warm while you are there. We took some extras home and they warmed up just fine later too. They have apple cider slushies, which are so yummy. Trader Joe's have a really good Apple Cider Donut during the fall season, as well.
Mochinuts (Sugarhouse & Park City, UT)
These are a fun new twist on donuts. It is a Mochi donut which is a rice donut so the texture is a bit more chewy, but still soft and fluffy. They have six flavors every week which we didn't know until we got there. We tried the original, black sesame seed and the blackberry funnel cake flavors. We really liked the texture and the flavors. I definitely want to go again and try some of the flavors I was wanting to get this time around. They do corn dogs and boba drinks as well!
Lehi's Bakery (Lehi, Utah)
This is a bakery you want to get to as early as you can so you get the best variety of donuts to pick from. We went during the afternoon and they had sold out of a lot of their donuts already. We didn't get to try the square donuts, but the one's we did get were delicious. I got a peanut butter with chocolate drizzle donut and my husband got the old fashioned donut. We also tried their fruit tarts which were pretty good. I thought the dough was so soft and fluffy and the peanut butter frosting was really good. My husband kept saying how good his was, as well. We have found a new favorite spot for sure!
Lee's Marketplace (A few locations in Utah)
The Bakery in Lee's Marketplace is so good. They have tons of options of flavors and sizes of donuts. The dough is really soft and has a good flavor. I really like the chocolate frosted donuts with crème filling and the creamy maple bars. The square glazed donuts are really good as well. They had really cute seasonal donuts with sprinkles and colors to make them cute. These are a good price for a dozen here and they have sales in their ads quite often for deals on the donuts.
Smith's Grocery Store
I love the chocolate donuts from Smith's Bakery. They are the one's that come in a twelve pack already packaged. The donuts have the perfect layer of chocolate frosting with a yummy vanilla cake donut. These go on sale every once in awhile, but they are already priced really cheap.
Dunford Bakers Bakery (West Jordan, Utah)
This Bakery was so fun to go and visit. Dunford Donuts can be found in the Costco, Smith's and gas stations in Utah. The actual bakery is just a small store with shelves of donuts. It smelled so good inside the bakery. There are lots of different donuts to choose from. I love the chocolate cake donut or the vanilla cake donut the best from there.
Beyond Glazed Bakery
The location in Utah has closed, but the owner wrote a cookbook so you can make these beautiful, yummy donuts yourself! If you search Beyond Glazed they have a page where you can order the cookbook. It looks awesome! We went when the store location was still open a few years ago and loved the experience. The donuts were all so colorful and had really pretty frostings on them. They tasted so good, I still crave them today. My siblings loved them, too. A cookbook to make them was such a genius idea!
What are your favorite donut shops in your state?
