What can I say, we have an addiction okay?! Yes, our first thing we searched out after we moved to Kentucky was smoothie and Acai bowl shops. I am happy to report that we have found some keepers and some new favorite spots. There are only a few smoothie spots here, but the ones we have tried have all been good. Here are the shops we found and our favorite things we have tried at each one.
Lueberry Smoothies is located downtown Louisville and is in such a cute little spot. It is along the Nulu street with lots of fun shops and food spots. The shop is decorated so cute and the menu is simple, but has a lot good options. My husband tried this one first and really liked it. He got the Pitaya smoothie bowl which had Goji berries on top, that was a new food for us. I got their smoothie called Gold Rush which had mangos, pineapples and bananas with turmeric, coconut, ginger, cinnamon and flax seeds. It tasted like fall in a cup! It was super good. These are on the healthier side for smoothies so lots of odd flavors, but surprisingly really good.
Playa Bowls was absolutely delicious! The little shop was decorated with a beachy theme and lots of fun paintings on the walls. I could of looked around all day and still saw new things. The smoothie bowls were so pretty and there were a good amount of options. I got the Nica bowl, which had a banana smoothie base with walnuts, cocoa nibs, strawberries, bananas, granola and peanut butter. That banana smoothie base was one of my favorites I have tried. My husband got the 8th Avenue bowl, that had an acai smoothie base, granola, bananas, honey and he added strawberries. There was a great list of smoothies to try, as well. We both were really impressed with our bowls, the only down side is this was the most expensive smoothie bowls we have gotten. Very worth it on a special occasions for sure!
Smoothie King is the smoothie spot here in Kentucky. We have gone a couple of times and have really enjoyed the smoothies. I like the Vitamin C energy boost smoothie and my husband tries a new one every time he goes. He is really into protein and these smoothies have lots of protein options so he likes that. I have gotten the chocolate peanut butter smoothie that is really good there, too. This is our go-to spot if we are wanted a good smoothie at a good price and close by.
Tropical Smoothie Café is a favorite that was in Utah, also. I like the fact that there is only one size and are decently priced. Sunrise Sunset is my go-to every time! It is strawberry, mango, pineapple, and orange juice. My husband has tried almost all of them from there. There are actually quite a few locations all over Kentucky which makes it easy to get one while you are here!
Where are your favorite smoothies from?
