What I Love About Kentucky!

With love in the air this month, I thought about how much I am loving Kentucky living! I figured I would share what I love about Kentucky so far! We did love our days back in Utah, so we are so happy that we love it in Kentucky too! We have travelled a lot living here, enjoyed some new foods, and found some beautiful areas in the state. Here are the things I love about Kentucky so far!

I love all the TRAVEL we get to do living in Kentucky. We live so close to so many other states and popular spots. We have taken quite a few road trips in the past eight or so months and have many more planned! There are so many cool spots to check out. We have gone to Nashville and explored the city, Indiana to a couple different unique spots, and drove to Georgia to see family. There are tons of neat spots on my list to drive to this next year though!

I love DOWNTOWN Louisville. The city has a beautiful view driving into the city and then the streets and buildings are so cool. They have the cutest little NuLu area with treats spots, food, stores that are easy to get to. There are murals, dessert spots, museums, and lots of people watching. We have driven downtown quite often and have a lot of favorite spots.

I love that gas stations have ICE CREAM machines in them! My all time favorite soft serve ice cream is from Thompson's Mart which is a gas station in Bardstown, Kentucky. Who would have thought! We have seen a few other gas stations have soft serve ice cream machines in them here too! The banana is my favorite, but they have eight flavors and they can be twisted together. Kentucky really has quite a few ice cream shops to pick from too, like Greater's, Louisville Creme, and Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen.

I love the drives through OLD TOWNS and all the open land. We try to take the back roads to anywhere we go so we can experience the country land more. This usually brings us through the old towns and main streets. Every town has their own unique things to them. Lot's of food spots and very cool buildings.

I love MUTH'S CANDIES in downtown Louisville! It is an old little candy shop located on the cutest street in downtown. They are known for the Majeska's and Bourbon Balls. We have tried the caramels, Majeska's, Pecan Turtles, and their Mint Patties. I love the vibe of the store and the chocolates!

I love PLEASE AND THANK YOU for a warm hot chocolate and a chocolate chip cookie! They are known to have the best chocolate chip cookies in the state and I can see why! The cookies have so many flavors, are the perfect crispness, and the chocolate ratio is just right. They have a couple stores in Kentucky and all have such cool vibes and locations. This is a fun stop if you are in town! I first went here one year ago this month! It is definitely a favorite memory spot!

I love the BIG 4 BRIDGE that crosses the Ohio river. It is a pedestrian bridge that crosses the state line and takes you into Indiana. You are able to walk the whole thing. The views are beautiful from the bridge. You are able to walk along the river down below for miles. My favorite thing is the swings they have lined up along the river where you can go take in the scenery while on a swing. It is a peaceful spot in town.

I love the DONUT SHOPS in Kentucky. I have too many that I like to just add one here. I am working on a blog for all the donuts we have tried, but for this blog I am going to tell you my favorite three! Nord's will forever be my absolute favorite since it is the first donut spot I stopped at while we were visiting Kentucky to decide if we were moving. It had the yummiest donuts, chocolate milk, and the cutest cookies. My next favorite is Sugar and Spice that have the littlest donuts ever, but they are so good! I would say my third favorite donuts are Hadorn's Bakery in Bardstown. All of these donut shops have cute little storefronts and just awesome donuts to pick from.

I love ALDI to do our grocery shopping at. There is something about Aldi that just makes my heart so happy. They have great deals, different food options then we are use to, and a rotating isle with lots of decor, clothing, and holiday treats. We don't live super close to an Aldi so it is a treat when we get to go. I would go every day if we lived close so it's probably a blessing to not be so close.

I love our new favorite breakfast spot called WILD EGGS. They have a few locations, but we have just gone to the downtown location so far. They have delicious potatoes, pumpkin pancakes in the fall time, and a popular cinnamon roll. The trick to the cinnamon roll is to scrape off the frosting and then it is delicious! We feel like you get a lot for your money there and it's good!

I love the street tacos at TACO LUCHADOR. We heard so many good things about Taco Luchador so we had to give it a try. We probably went once a week for a couple of months, we loved it that much! I have tried everything on their menu, but have decided the best is the street tacos. They have tons of flavors and combinations to pick from. Their homemade tortillas are so good. They have three locations that are all so cool and fun.

I love BERNHEIM FOREST. It is the coolest little area to go on nature walks and hikes. It has a lot of different terrain so you can see lots of different things in one spot. It is free, but they do ask for donations to keep it up and running. The forest giants is a popular attraction in the forest. It really is a fun place and a beautiful spot.

I love the SUNRISES AND SUNSETS in Kentucky! Our very first morning in Kentucky we had the most beautiful sunrise that will forever be in my memory! The horizon is so different without mountains. I am in awe everyday! Driving during the sunset is my favorite. It changes the landscape so much and just makes picture perfect moments every time!

I love that we still have a TRADER JOE'S close by! They have the cutest seasonal treats, yummiest snacks, and are always adding new items to try out! We went close to February and got to see all the cute Valentine's Day items. I did just try the new Dark Chocolate Covered Mini Pretzels that were so good, but I do like the thin pretzels covered in dark chocolate the best! We are back on their lemonades, veggie straws, Acai packets, and trying all the new stuff again! If you need a fun Valentine's drink the Sparking Berry Lemonade is so good and it's pink so it goes perfectly with the holiday!

What do you love about your state?
