Cookies are one of my favorite treats to make or to go get from a shop. There are so many cookie shops around now a days and I love it! One of our first things we explored when we moved to Kentucky was their cookie options in town. We have found some of our favorites from grocery stores and some from cookie shops. Here is a list of all the yummy cookies I have been lucky to try. I will be going back to every single option off of this list over and over.
Please and Thank You
Please and Thank You have the best known chocolate chip cookies in Kentucky. Let me tell ya, they really are good cookies! When my mom first took a bite she said you can taste every single ingredient in the cookies like the vanilla, salt, and so on. I agree with her, you really can taste it all in one bite. I like that you can get a cookie and a hot chocolate all in one stop. The stores are very cute and unique. The only down side is the price for the cookies, they are a little pricey. This will be a must for all of our visitors!
Save A Lot- Sunny's Cookies
Save-A-Lot have knockoff Girl Scout Cookies. They have caramel, coconut and chocolate shortbread cookies that I like even better than the name brand ones. They have Thin Mints in their own version that were really good. I felt like they are a tad bit thinner and have a little bit more of a mint flavor. We have bought quite a few boxes since being in Kentucky. The price is under two dollars for them which is such a good deal! You can find them at Aldi, too!
Nord's Bakery
Nord's Bakery is the best donut shop I have been to so far in Kentucky. They have a bunch of cookies you can get along with the donuts. My first visit I grabbed a Kentucky cookie. It was shaped like the states shape and had a cute little heart and Kentucky written on it. The cookie was a sugar cookie with Royal Icing, which isn't my favorite kind of cookie. It was still worth getting the cookie, though! It was too cute to not and way fun for a picture.
Aldi- Peanut Butter Candy Cookies
The peanut butter cookies at Aldi are one of my favorite store bought cookies! The peanut butter cookie is so soft and has a little bit of the grainy sugar texture, which I like. The Reese's Pieces are a unique kind of addition to a cookie. The crunchy shell with the peanut butter adds the perfect texture for the soft cookies. These go on sale every so often at Aldi, but I think they are worth full price, too!
Insomnia Cookies
Insomnia Cookies are actually a really cool concept of a shop. The stores are open super late and have really cute décor. The menu is all of the cookie options and they have them all available in store. I was shocked they had so many options at one time. We got a box of six and ate them right up! I tried the M&M, Chocolate Chip and the Peanut Butter Chip. My husband got the Snickerdoodles since those are his favorites. I want to go back and try the Smore's and Confetti Chip.
Crumbl Cookies
We were so happy to find that there are a few locations of Crumbl Cookies in Kentucky. One of the locations is one we pass by quite often so that's even better! I am a fan of just the plain old chocolate chip cookies from here, but then there are a few that we go specifically for on the weeks that they have them. The flavors change weekly so you have to go on the weeks they are making your favorites. I really like the Circus Cookies, biscoff chip cookies, Buckeye Brownie, Reese's Peanut Butter Chip, Cookie Dough, and the Pink Sugar Cookies are all my go-to's. My husband loves the snickerdoodle or the Churro cookies with no frosting. We have tried tons of the flavors and have so many more to try. This is a good spot to feed a crowd, as well.
A Sweet Retreat
A Sweet Retreat is the cutest little bakery in Kentucky! They have cakes, cupcakes, brownies and of course cookies! My husband got a cupcake with a cookie on top, which was the best of both worlds! The cookie was crispy, but so soft at the same time. I don't love snickerdoodles and I loved that cookie. We will be going back to try all the cookies from there!
Panera
The one cookie I saw all over was the Panera pumpkin shaped cookie during the fall season! They have this shortbread cookie all year it just changes shapes and colors for the seasons. I loved how cute it was. As long as you know you are biting into a shortbread cookie it is good! The frosting has a little bit of a lemon flavoring. It was soft in the center and crispier on the edges. I didn't mind this cookie! I would get it again!
Plehn's Bakery
This is an older type bakery with lots of baked goods. I really liked their frosted sugar cookies! My husband tried their Snickerdoodle and said it was okay! They had quite a few different cookies to pick from. I would go back here for that sugar cookie anytime! We went during Valentine's season so they had lots of cute decorated desserts for the holiday.
What are your favorite cookie places?
