St. Matthews, Kentucky!

St. Matthews area in Kentucky is one we frequent often. There are lot's of shopping areas, yummy food spots, treat spots, and just a nice area overall. There are some surrounding areas that we love too that we usually go to while we are out that way. This area is very similar to some of our old Utah areas that we loved, but with a lot of new Kentucky areas mixed in! We really do like this area and I can't wait to share it with you all!

Trader Joe's

I was a happy girl learning that Kentucky had a Trader Joe's and that it wasn't too far of a drive from our house! We have gone to this location quite a few times since moving to Kentucky. I have my seasonal favorite treats that we go get along with my all the time favorite snacks. My go-to's are the Acai packets, Honey Wheat Pretzels, Apple Cider Donuts, Mint Chocolate Stars, and anything new that comes out. Anytime we are in the area my husband knows to just stop by! I love the atmosphere, the food options and the price!

Duck Donuts

We first found Duck Donuts in Utah, but Kentucky has one! We love their donuts and the idea that you can make your own. I always go for the white frosting with caramel drizzle. They have really good glazed donuts too. My husband goes for the cinnamon sugar every time. This is a great little treat place in town.

Playa Bowls

One of our favorite smoothie bowls is in St. Matthews! There are only two locations in Kentucky, but this is the only location we have been to. The storefront has a cool beachy theme with lots of painted murals on the walls. We have gotten both their smoothie bowls and smoothies which are both great! Their menu is quite extensive so it's great for anybody to find something they will like. The only down side is the price is very high. My favorite is the peanut butter bowl. My husband really likes the Acai bowls and has tried a few different smoothie flavors.

St. Matthews Mall

There are two malls within minutes of each other in the St. Matthew's area. The St. Matthew's Mall is the one we go to quite often. We love a lot of the stores they have there. They have a really good food court with Chick-Fil-A and Lueberry Smoothies. There is a Dave and Busters, Cheesecake Factory, Cinemark, and a bunch of stores. At the fancier mall they have the higher end stores like Lululemon, Apple and Sephora. We haven't been to that mall yet, but we pass by it all the time! They have some restaurants in that mall too. Lots of good food in a close by radius around there!

The Comfy Cow

This location might be pushing it on the St. Matthew's area, but this is the one we have gone to while out while on our outing to St. Matthews. The ice cream shop is located in the cutest little outdoors shopping area called Westport Village. There is another location in Middletown which is right next door to St. Matthew's so that is another good option! My sister claimed this to be her favorite ice cream spot in Kentucky and she was not lying! The ice cream is creamy and a little bit thicker. They have lots of flavors and allow for samples. I only got a small when I went and that was a mistake, I still crave that today! The store is pink and adorable! They have pie's and other little desserts to pick from as well!

North Lime Donuts and Coffee

North Lime Coffee and Donuts is in the same little area as Comfy Cow. It is a shopping center called Westport Village that has a bunch of food options and little boutique type shops. This was the first location we ever went to! I have loved their seasonal hot chocolates with pumpkin and peppermint. My husband has really liked their coffee drinks, too! They have awesome donuts that change every week and are different at each location. Their glazed square donut reminds me of scone dough, but in a donut form. Everything has been so good there!

Joella's Hot Chicken

Another yummy chicken spot in Kentucky. This is more a fast food type restaurant with a really cute style in their restaurant. There are two locations within miles of each other right there in St. Matthews and Middletown. We went to the Middletown location which was super clean and seemed brand new. We got the chicken strips with fries, greens, Mac and Cheese and the yummiest dipping sauces. They have a homemade ranch sauce that was so good. Their french fries are delicious. We will definitely eat there again and again!

Taco Luchador

Our most favorite street taco restaurant has a location right down the road from St. Matthews! It is a cute little old time building with lots of fun decorations. They have a few locations that are all unique. My favorite taco is the Barbacoa tacos. My husband loves the Carne Asada. We have tried the bowls, sandwiches, nachos and the tacos. We both have said tacos all the way! They have lots of toppings and the meats are cooked just right. This is on the higher end for the amount of food you get, but it is so good you forget all about the price tag! This is our frequent date night spot.

Plehn's Bakery

We had a fun Valentine's date this year at Plehn's Bakery! It is an old time little bakery in St. Matthews. They have donuts, cakes, cookies, and pies. We got their frosted sugar cookies, Snickerdoodle cookie and their individual cake. They had tons of cakes for the holiday that would of been so fun to get. They do have homemade ice cream made in store too! It definitely took me back in time walking into that little bakery!

Quill's Coffee

My husbands most favorite coffee shop is Quill's coffee. We are in the St. Matthews area a lot so we have visited this Quill's location quite a bit. The style is very simple, but so cute and a great vibe. It would be a great little shop to work from or go and read a book at. I have tried their hot chocolate, Peppermint hot chocolate, white hot chocolates and their pumpkin steamers. Everything I have gotten from there has tasted rich, creamy and delicious. It is basically art work for them! My husband goes for the Honey coffee or the Bourbon Caramel coffees.
