Elizabethtown is known as E-Town around Kentucky. It is a fun, hopping place about fifty minutes from Louisville. It has a bunch of food places, grocery stores, shopping centers, and some outdoor things to do. We have tried some yummy food spots in E-Town and enjoy going to the shops. Here are the fun things we have found so far in Elizabethtown!
The Peach Cobbler Factory
What a clever idea for a treat shop. The Peach Cobbler Factory has a bunch of cobblers, bread puddings, and milkshakes to pick from. My husband got the original peach cobbler and I got the caramel apple flavor. I preferred the apple over the peach, but my husband liked the peach cobbler. You are able to get ice cream on the cobbler or on the side. Yum, with the ice cream with it, too! When we first got it I thought it would have too much sauce, but it ended up being the perfect amount. I am happy we found this yummy spot!
Amazin' Glazin' Donuts
The donuts at Amazin' Glazin' were super good! The dough is really soft and the frosting is a little bit thicker. I really liked the crème filled maple frosted donut and the maple glazed donut. My husband liked the cinnamon and sugar and the apple fritter donuts. They had a good variety of donuts to pick from in the store. We did make a special trip out there is year for the heart shaped Valentine's donuts and it will forever be my most favorite memory. The donuts are even better when they are even cuter! The dough is so soft and the flavor is just sweet and so tasty. We try to stop here anytime we are in town!
A Sweet Retreat
One of my new favorite bakeries! A Sweet Retreat bakery was so cute and modern with the prettiest desserts. They are known for cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and brownies. We have only tried the cupcakes, but the Snickerdoodle flavor does come with a cookie on top. We count that as trying their cookies. It was the best Snickerdoodle cookie we have had! The cakes were so soft and the frosting was one of my favorites I have tried. They switch out a few flavors each week. I love the Vanilla Vacation flavor and my husband loved the Snickerdoodle cupcake. We try to go whenever they have that flavor. I have so many things to try on my list from here!
Freeman Lake Park
We drive past this lake every time we head into town! There are always people walking, running, fishing, and biking. There are paddle boats and kayak rentals in the summer to go out on the lake. It is a great spot for families, exercising and just get out in nature. At Christmas the park has light displays throughout the whole of the park that you can drive through to see. The best part is this is a free event all season long. We were able to go this year and really enjoyed it! I have this on my hiking/go for a walk list for this upcoming summer!
Dewster's Ice Cream
First off, check Dewster's webpage before going! They have really weird hours and are closed for a few weeks for the holidays. The first few times we tried to go they had been closed for different reasons. We finally made it while they were open. They have quite a few ice cream flavors and a handful of dessert bars to pick from. I liked the idea of getting a dessert bar with a scoop of ice cream together! They do allow for samples of the ice cream. I had tried their "Dewster Tracks" which was a peanut butter and chocolate type ice cream. It was super good! The dessert bars were good warmed up. We got the apple pie dessert bar and a chocolate chip blondie bar. I really enjoyed the Apple Pie bar out of the two! This is a great dessert spot in the area if you need something sweet. The shop is decorated really cute and very clean and well kept.
Steak 'N Shake
One of my favorite locations of Steak N' Shake is in E-town. Their milkshakes are always made perfectly! We love their burgers and french fries. The fries are like shoestring fries that are crispy and perfectly salted. The burgers are a smashed patty that have good flavor and any toppings you want! The chocolate or M&M milk shakes are my favorite, but they have a full list to choose from.
What did we miss trying in E-town?
