Sandwiches are the greatest food on the earth! Well, to me they are! I could eat sandwiches every single day. Sandwiches with all the toppings, cheese, and sauces are the best! Kentucky is light on the sandwich shop options, but what they do have here have been great so far! If I can't find something on the menu I love then I usually opt for the burgers or sandwiches. Here are my favorite sandwiches I have had in Kentucky so far!
Family Made BBQ Pulled Pork SandwichFamily Made BBQ is a restaurant in Bardstown Kentucky. They sell all things BBQ which includes one of my favorite Pulled Pork Sandwiches. The meat is a little dryer here which is my favorite. They do have BBQ sauce you can add to it if you'd like. The bun was a big puffy bun with good flavor. Pickles were of course on top! I feel like the price here is super cheap for BBQ and a restaurant. The flavors are really good and there are so many great options on the menu.
Naive Kitchen Breakfast Sandwich
If you are looking for a yummy breakfast sandwich then Naive is a great stop! The restaurant is fancy, modern, and sleek. Adorable. The vibe was so fun! We loved the atmosphere overall! The breakfast potatoes are delicious. They were so crispy and salty. I got a bacon, egg, avocado, cheese and garlic aioli sandwich. The bacon was crispy and the flavors from the aioli and bun gave it a good flavor. It was a little messy to eat, but that makes it even yummier! The cinnamon rolls from there are great too!
The Eagle Chicken and Coleslaw Sandwich
I really enjoyed the food at The Eagle. There is just a bunch of chicken and sides on the menu. I got the chicken sandwich. It came with coleslaw, pickles and a nice crispy piece of chicken. The bread was the perfect texture for all the toppings. There was a little kick to the chicken, but was mellowed out with the help of the coleslaw. Everything tasted fresh and it came out warm. We really liked their sides there too!
Panera Bread Sandwiches
Oh, man! There are quite a few sandwiches I like from Panera. They are known for their homemade bread options and bakery items. I have tried quite a few different combinations of breads and toppings. My favorites are anything with turkey meat and bread. The baguet bread is so good! I don't mind their sliced bread options either though! They have a lot of good sauces they put on them and fresh veggies. They do have a pick two option where you can pick two options out of soup, salad or sandwiches. I tend to get the Broccoli Cheddar Soup and a Sandwich. My favorite sandwich is the Bacon Turkey Bravo!
Feast BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich Another really yummy pulled pork sandwich spot is Feast BBQ. I think of this spot as a fancy BBQ spot. The plating is more high end feeling and the portion sizes seem a little bit smaller there. The food is awesome though! The pulled pork sandwich had good flavor and the bun was soft. The pork tacos looked so good too! The Fried Macaroni and Cheese balls were the star of the show there! This was a simple pulled pork sandwich that we had no complaints about!
Taco Luchador Torta
These are technically called Torta's but they fit in my sandwich category while eating it! You can get any of the meats offered on a roll type breading. It does have quite a few toppings that come on it, but we are pretty plain so ours were pretty bare. My favorite was the Barbacoa with the avocado together! The breading had little seeds on top that we didn't love, but the bread parts were really good. Honestly, out of the menu options these were our least favorite that we had tried. It was good, just doesn't beat the street tacos for us! If you aren't in a mood for a taco then this could be an option to try!
Jersey Mikes
Good ol' Jersey Mikes! We had these in Utah, but they are starting to pop up everywhere here in Kentucky! We get coupons on the back of our Kroger receipts so that is why we go! These sandwiches are pretty pricey, but the coupons do make it better! I love the shredded lettuce here for some reason. I usually go with the turkey and provolone or the tuna fish subs. My husband always get their chicken cheese steak. We usually get the medium size so we have leftovers for lunch the next day.
Penn Station
I was so excited to try Penn Station. They are all over Kentucky! I got a Cheesesteak with peppers and mushrooms and provolone cheese. The meat and toppings tasted so good! I didn't love that the bread seemed a bit soggy, but I am assuming it was because the meat was juicy and yummy. The flavor really was so good! I did try their cookies from there and didn't love those, so just stick to the subs!
Pub Sub from Publix
Anytime I watch a shop with me video on Youtube about Publix they always mention the Pub Subs. We just had a Publix open up in Kentucky so I was able to finally try one! I heard there was quite the line for weeks when it opened. We waited a bit, but the line would have been worth it to try these! I was shocked at all the meats and topping options there were. These are a great price and great quality! I crave these all the time!
