Fall in Kentucky is quite the vibe! The fall colors on the trees, the treats, the small towns and all the fun fall decorations make it feel like we live in a Hallmark movie here! We have found so many favorite fall treats in town and have seen some beautiful areas. Here are my Kentucky fall bucket list items that we have done and suggest to anyone coming to Kentucky!
Try all the coffee shops- Kentucky has so many yummy coffee shops in town. It is hard to just pick one spot for a cozy fall drink since they are all great! I'll tell you my top three favorites to help narrow it down, but you really can't go wrong with any of them in Kentucky. The most visited coffee shops for us is Quill's, Please and Thank You and Biggby Coffee. They all have pumpkin, maple and apple cider options to help with any of those fall drink cravings! I enjoy the pumpkin steamers at any of those options. Please and Thank You have a really good local Apple Cider too! The storefronts all have unique vibes and are cozy on a fall day.
Fall Leaves at Cherokee Park- One of our fall traditions is walking the three mile loop around Cherokee Park in the fall. There are huge trees throughout the whole park and walking trail. In the fall the trees are so vibrant in fall colors. You do need to hit this one just right with the changing of the leaves to get the best views, but the trails are pretty all year too! There are benches, a kids park, a golf course and a pond all in the area. There is plenty of parking and it hasn't been super busy anytime we have gone.
Find all the pumpkin flavored and pumpkin shaped treats- Every year I am on the hunt to find the cutest pumpkin flavored or shaped treats in Kentucky! It is always a yummy adventure! Please and Thank You have awesome pumpkin shaped sugar cookies. There are a lot of bakeries in town that have pumpkin shaped cookies. Pumpkin flavored donuts are a must this time of year! Trader Joe's has so many of my favorite pumpkin treats too!
Fall Brunch- We like going out for brunch and it's even better in the fall time! The fall seasonal flavors are one of my favorites. My bucket list fall brunch spot every year is at Wild Eggs. They have their famous pumpkin pancakes. It comes with caramel, candied pecans and whipped cream. The pumpkin flavor is spot on and so delicious! Highland Morning had the yummiest apple French toast last season. There are so many bakery restaurants in town that have fall flavored menu items. It is a great date or outing with friends!
Try all the Apple Cider treats and drinks- Apple Cider treats and drinks are another favorite of mine during the fall season! Kentucky has some really good Apple Cider options. You can get an apple cider donut from any of the orchards in town and at majority of the grocery stores. The best Apple Cider donuts are from Trader Joe's, but locally, Evan's Orchard would be my next pick! Please and Thank You has a local Apple Cider drink that is delicious. I have seen a lot of apple desserts at bakeries too!
Visit a Pumpkin Patch- Fall is in full swing when you get to visit a pumpkin patch! Kentucky has some super cute orchards and farms with pumpkin patches. We have gone to Evan's Orchard and loved it! You'll see little stands along the side of the road with pumpkins all season long as well! There are quite a few little local shops with lots of pumpkins and fall plants to stop by.
Pumpkin Spooktacular- We haven't gone to the famous Pumpkin Spooktacular in downtown Louisville yet, but it has been on my to do list every year! I am hoping this is the year for it! There is a park in downtown Louisville where they set up a walk with thousands of carved pumpkins during October. The pictures look magical and so cool and has great reviews. This would be the perfect fall outing with kiddos or for a date night!
Hillcrest in Kentucky- If you love the Halloween vibes during the fall season, then walking the Hillcrest street in Kentucky would be for you! They are known for having all the houses decorated for Halloween. We drove through it last year and it really was fun! Each yard had their own themes and the yards were full of spooky fall decor. We went during the day, but I bet it would be even cooler in the dark with all the lights!
Fall Candle shopping- It is not a fall season without shopping for fall candles! This has been our new fall outing. We love the candles at Aldi, Marshalls, Bath and Body Works and even Costco! I love the pumpkin or fall leave scents, but you really can't go wrong with any fall scent! Aldi had fall shaped candles this season which was so cute!
Go on a Fall Hike- One of our favorite things to do in the fall is to go hiking! The weather starts to get a chill in the air and the leaves are changing. It is so pretty! We have done Cumberland Falls in the fall and Bernheim forest. They both have been pretty spots! There are tons of hiking areas to go to. I have heard Red River Gorge is beautiful in the fall as well. We have that on our list too!
